Best free pc games

In the world of free pc games there are TONS of options. Let me narrow down the list for you.
All the games I'll list here are totally free, no demos or any trickery. Just glorious free games.
Now you might be asking yourself, who the hell is this guy to tell me which game is best?
Well I'm not going to tell you which game is the best asshole. You can decide which free pc game is best for yourself.

Dyson - See video here.
Dyson is a real-time strategy game about self-replicating mining machines in an asteroid belt.
The goal of the game is you must ensure your survival by colonizing other asteroids in the belt and eradicating the other machines that have the same goal.

Allegiance - See video here.
Allegiance is a free, online, multi-player space simulation game. You pilot spacecraft, flying in a team with other players, defending and attacking sectors in space. Allegiance challenges your tactical ingenuity, your ability to function in a team and your prowess at blowing stuff up. Experienced players take command and lead their teams to victory or defeat.

The carefully designed plot significantly impacts the game experience by requiring the player to explore every corner of the galaxy and make discoveries and connections independently; all this, occurring within a huge game world featuring numerous alien species, a vast number of star systems to visit, and dynamic events depending on the actions of the player created a powerful sense of openness, cause and effect functionality, and freedom; this gives the player the feeling that they are indeed interacting with a realistic universe instead of merely pitting their wits against those of the game designers.

Cave Story is really one of those games that can be considered a masterpiece of game design. There is just so much originality and ingenuity behind this game and it really shows as you play through it. The developer, Pixel spent five years making this game.

Freeciv is a Free and Open Source empire-building strategy game inspired by the history of human civilization. The game commences in prehistory and your mission is to lead your tribe from the stone age to the space age...

It's a fast paced deathmatch! Rich, colorful, arcade like atmospheres. You're going to love Alien Arena 2008. The game combines some of the very best aspects of Quake III and Unreal Tournament and wraps them up with a retro alien theme, while adding tons of original ideas to make the game quite unique.

Climb into the cockpit of history´s most famous fighter planes!
Produced in cooperation with the History Channel. Fly an American Hellcat over Wake Island, trying to lead a Japanese Zero into a death spiral, or a P-51 Mustang defending B-17 bombers against German Me-109s trying to crash into them before they can reach the fatherland. Episodes are based on the History Channel´s hit program of the same name, Dogfights.

Space Combat is a space simulator where all of the laws of physics are accurately applied to
your vehicle. You enter the spaceship mass, size, and thruster and engine powers and locations and see how the resulting ship handles, with the physics being accurate. Take your ship through gates projected on a HUD, asteroids or comets to test your ships maneuverability
and your flying skills.

MapleStory is a 2D, side-scrolling massively multiplayer online role-playing game.
Travel the "Maple World", defeating monsters and developing your character's skills and abilities. Interact with other players in many ways, such as through chatting, trading, and playing minigames.

First Encounter Assault Recon is a horror themed first-person shooter online multiplayer enough said.

A well rounded F.P.S based around aliens and area 51 of course. A truly remarkable game for a FREE game.

Savage 2: A Tortured Soul - See video here.
Savage 2 is a fantasy and science-fiction themed game that successfully combines elements of first-person shooter, real-time strategy, and action role-playing games.

Command & Conquer - See video here.
Modern real time strategy game. Construct a base and then acquire a flow of resources, in order to fund the ongoing production of various forces to assault and conquer your opponent's base with. Features around 50 different units and structures. Every type of structure in the game acts as a tech tree node, and additional units, structures and special abilities become available to the player as new structures are built and placed. Very cool game.

The Suffering - See video here.
Take on the role of Torque, an inmate who must face much more than his own inner demons and the harsh and gritty reality of death row, as he fights to escape the unleashing of the penitentiary's gruesome secrets in a challenge more terrifying than fighting death itself. The Suffering features ultra-mature content and three distinctly different endings depending upon how you choose to survive.

Awesome online multiplayer race game. A true must have for any motor head.

Action Doom 2 - See video here.
Popular beat em up style. From start to finish the game looks and feels like a virtual comic book, the world and its inhabitants are entirely cell shaded and the story is told through cut scenes.
Hard to belive a game this good is totally free.

Afterburner 3D - See video here.
A fantastic fanmade remake of SEGA's classic. The game features excellent 3D graphics, great special effects, and even a decent soundtrack to round things off.

America's Army - See video here.
You are bound by Rules of Engagement (ROE) and grow in experience as you navigate challenges in teamwork-based, multiplayer, force versus force operations. In the game, as in the Army, accomplishing missions requires a team effort and adherence to the seven Army Core Values. Through its emphasis on team play, the game demonstrates these values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage and makes them integral to success in America's Army.
